What is a Neptune retrograde?
Neptune turns retrograde about every 368 days, once a year, as Earth passes it on the inside track around the Sun. Seen from Earth, Neptune slows, stops, and moves westward against the stars for 158 to 159 days. It takes about 165 years to circle the Sun, so each retrograde covers only a few degrees. In the middle of each retrograde Neptune is at opposition, opposite the Sun.
