The cazimi is the inferior conjunction: Mercury passes between Earth and the Sun, in the middle of the retrograde. Mercury is within 17′ of the Sun from 07:09 to 15:20 UTC on April 23, 2030. How these are timed.
Signs and degrees
Mercury retraces 10°22′ of the zodiac: it stations retrograde at 7°48′ Taurus and backs up to 27°26′ Aries before it stations direct. On the way back it leaves Taurus and returns to Aries, so this retrograde touches two signs. Mercury first reaches 27°26′ Aries on March 30, 2030, 14 days before the station, and clears 7°48′ Taurus again on May 24, 2030, 18 days after it turns direct: 55 days on these degrees in all. The cazimi falls on day 11 of 23, at 3°21′ Taurus.
The last Mercury retrograde station in Taurus before this one was May 1, 2029 at 23:05 UTC, at 26°40′ Taurus. The next one is April 23, 2036 at 13:18 UTC, at 18°38′ Taurus. Since 1900, the closest earlier station to 7°48′ Taurus came 125 years before, on April 13, 1905 at 11:34 UTC, at 7°27′ Taurus, 0°21′ away.
